Sankofa Leadership Academy

Councilmember White has been a long time proponent of mentorship. Prior to entering the Council office, he launched the Sankofa Leadership Academy a new effort aimed at empowering boys and young men of color, a segment of our society which too often faces disproportionate challenges and obstacles to success. Thus far, Councilmember White and other male community leaders have engaged with young boys from Hart Middle School, Kramer Middle School, Johnson Middle School, Somerset Prep School, Orr Elementary School, Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School, and several others.
